Kansas officials stonewall mathematician investigating voting machine “sabotage”

Wichita State University’s Beth Clarkson (who is also chief statistician of WSU’s National Institute for Aviation Research) discovered “odd patterns” in Kansas electoral voting records, so she requested public docs to help her get to the bottom of things — requests that state officials ignored, dodged, and stalled.

I should point out that I did not “discover” these patterns; I have merely confirmed them.

AUDIT_AZ

Audit_AZ is a group in Arizona working for similar goals.  They put up a nice post about my work, properly noting that the pattern that concerns me is one I have confirmed, not discovered.  I feel a twinge of guilt when articles credit me for finding it.

Anyway, there’s a nice post I linked to that gives of rundown of various problems with our voting equipment along with some evidence for those problems.

Petition at Moveon.org

Aareon Harreld started a petition for this called “Independent Audits of Election Results in Kansas”.  Please sign!   I was signature 536.  Even if it doesn’t do anything else, it really makes me aware of how many other people are  concerned about the accuracy of our voting system and what to see an audit done.

I’ve had so many people send me tales of their experiences explaining why they, too, are concerned.  While those anecdotessupport my determination to continue this quest, it is depressing to hear those stories.   This petition and all the signatures help my morale something terrific.   I don’t know Mr. Harreld and haven’t had any contact with him.   I’m really buoyed up that so many other people want to see this happen.
